Are you sick of being dumber as an adult than you were as a child? Researchers at SUNY are hard at work developing a simple steroid pill that will make your brain work like it did before you hit puberty and and every significant thought you had got drowned out in a sea of worrying about paying the bills and thinking about sex pretty much constantly. The potential is there to develop a pill that could ease the effect of stress on certain receptors in the brain, increase the ease with which adults and adolescents alike can learn languages and retain information. More importantly, it could improve spatial cognition skills and, thus, video game playing abilities. It will not, however, be enough to let you beat Contra with the Konami code. That shit is still straight up brutal, son.

March 21,2010 Will Live In Infamy

A letter to Washington.

A  horrendous heinous act has been committed upon the population of the United States of America by the passing of the socialized welfare healthcare bill. 

But for those that are ignorant, illadvised and easily led to the slaughter today was a blessed day.  The feeling of great accomplishment and self-pride that finally something wonderful has come out of Washington will be water-cooler chatter for days.

There are those of us however that see this quite differently.  I personally will wear out the soles of my shoes, run my gas tank dry, blister my phone dialing finger, speak until I go hoarse and whatever else it takes to campaign for those who were brave enough to stand firm against the pressure and vote with common sense and intelligence.  To those who caved in giving away my freedom to make my own personal choices concerning  healthcare I will fight with all I have to see that they feel the sting of my vote.

Washington, you have gone too far this time.

Bare chested

Lately I’ve been mesmerised by the bouncing breasts of women in the street. Young women. Old women. Fat women. Skinny women. Living where I do, they’re usually all quite prominent. If you catch me staring, sighing wistfully…it’s not what you think.

I have a scar on my chest.
It is not brave.
It does not remind me of a battle from which I came through better on the other side.
It is not stern reminder of the time I cheated death with a melanoma.

It sits between my 3rd intercostals as a 2cm x 0.5cm reddish flat reminder of that time  a few months ago when I went to a GP who removed the small inflamed pea-sized keratin cyst that had been ‘annoying’ me.

How’s that for an awesome conversation starter?
“Hey, cool scar!”
“Yeah I had an inflamed keratin cyst and it had to be removed. So…um…I got it removed. Yeah.”
“Oh”

I didn’t occur to me that I would have a scar, or how I would react. In a stupid self indulgent way I feel like I can now identify a little more with patients worried about scarring. Sure, mine is not classified as ‘disfiguring’ but it prevents me from wearing 70% of my previous wardrobe. It has me staring lustfully at other women’s breasts in shopping centres thinking “that 85 yr old is rocking her cleavage *sigh*”

I’m a little ashamed at how much of my identity was apparently linked to my percieved ability to wear low cut tops. I’m ashamed at how much of my thought-time has been taken up by wondering if people can notice I’m wearing foundation on my chest, if I do venture out in something that bares below the angle of Louis.

I’m ashamed, especially since this week we’re looking at breast pathology. So, one day, we’ll be able to differentiate carcinomas, benign tumours and mastitis etcetera. We’ll treat women who are dealing with the loss of a whole breast, both or worse. Women who would trade their metastatic disease in an instant for a measly little scar.

Bottle up and explode

This is the X-ray you’re never meant to take. So we’re told

This is the x-ray i took on Friday morning.

93 year old lady (background of chronic lung disease, but in pretty good nick considering, gets out and about once a week, no other co-morbidities) , short of breath for a week, worse on the day of admission.

She was breathless but alert, orientated and able to speak. Minimal air entry on either side of the chest, normal BP and heart rate, no distended neck veins.

Mild to moderate type II respiratory failure on her gas. Seemed like a good candidate for non-invasive ventilation.

Got a quick CXR and popped her on the ventilator while waiting for the film to print out. After 10 minutes on the vent she’s improving, less work of breathing, resp rate dropping.

X-ray comes back and yes of course there’s the tension pneumothorax.

Mea Culpa.

So what about the x-ray you’re never meant to take? Most medical dogma is just that. Based on cliche and things grey haired consultants say on post-take ward rounds. They have little relevance to real world medicine.

In the real world of frail, crumbly elderly patients (and this is a large part of our population, not the young professionals of ER and House) “classic” presentations are rare and examination findings in acutely sick people are frequently unreliable.

If you work in emergency medicine long enough you learn quickly not to make dogmatic statements or speak with too much certainty. If you have no room for doubt and uncertainty then find another job.

One of my last referrals last night was a 52 year old lady whose Dad died at the age of 50 with an MI and with chest pain that just might have been ischemic in nature (we see 20 of these patients a  day and maybe one of them rules in for ischemic heart disease).

I wanted her admitted for serial ECGs and enzymes. The response of the medical reg was the she was too young to have anything significant. I suggested that we should have told the patients father that when he died at the age of 50 with the same symptoms.

Medicine is a complex and often unpredictable beast and as much as we’d like it to be it’s not nearly as scientific as we’d like it to be.

It’s as I’ve said before the kind of psychotic behavior that the existing in the American market system is pretty much systemic throughout the entire global economic system.  And this behavior is the kind that enables these really huge corporations and extremely wealthy personalities to behave in some of the most disgusting and anti-human and anti-productive ways possible.  The only thing that could happen as a result of this huge power grab by Comcast is the information and news and entertainment.  That is going to be provided by NBC Universal and Comcast will in fact be more propagandized.  Then it already has been in the past.  And what’s really sad is that the end result of all this is that this kind of very selfish and ethnocentric and egocentric behavior in the marketplace is only going to increase, the fragility of the American market system.  And this is going to be taking place.  When in reality, the American market is still recovering from $800 trillion of market loss, which has not been fully and completely realized, pursuant to the $800 trillion of market loss.  Having been extended through all of the precipitating businesses who were not part of the primary level of loss that took place during the third business quarter of 2009.

And as I’ve said before, these large acquisitions are being primarily driven by the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party who are desperate to take control as much as possible.  Over everything in this country.  Because the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party have never once been about freedom or equality in this country they have always been about co-option and control and supporting the principles of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi movement of World War II.  Which is why all members of the Republican Party who are members of Congress and other party members throughout the country and all members of the Christian conservative religion absolutely hold equal to their own Bible the published work of Mein Kampf, which they believe is actually much more important for them to give their support to them the Constitution of these United States.

And so in light of this particular news item my initial position regarding what I see coming from the American market system stays completely unchanged.  I see another potential market crashed taking place in the United States market occurring sometime between 12 to 15 business quarter’s out.  Meaning to within about 12 to 15 business quarter’s the United States market will suffer another catastrophic market crash.  And that this will in fact be as a direct result of the extremely a center and egocentric stereotypical and selfish behavior of not only the upper class on the wealthy but of personalities.  Just like Comcast.

Of course, I don’t expect anyone to believe what I’m saying because I understand the the egos involved in economics are extremely huge egos these are not able who are prone to accepting that anyone else might know as much about anything as they do.  But it needs to be noted that the extreme arrogance and ethnocentric and egocentric behavior that exists now.  Also existed in 1929 prior to the crash that took place, then.  And that most of those personalities were not able to sustain the embarrassment of how their arrogance and over egotism basically allowed them to lose so much money in such a short period of time, that they were really basically seen for exactly what they were nothing but filthy liars.  And that’s exactly what’s going to happen to people like Comcast and Rupert Murdoch.  Because these people are not good economic personalities in the American market system they are unscrupulous lying bastards you have egos are so large that they cannot accept under any circumstances, that anyone might know as much about anything as they do.  And of course that will be their undoing.

Economic Fact Sheet (Current as of March, 2010)

1. The United States currently has a national debt in excess of $12.5 trillion.
2. The interest on the national debt is now in excess of $11 trillion.
3. The operating budget for the United States government is now in excess of $43 trillion.
4. The members of the United States Congress stole $200 million from the Medicare fund, which was going to go for cost-of-living increases to Medicare recipients, so that the members of Congress could have their paper medical records converted to computerized medical records. The attitude by the members of Congress was that they didn’t care if they murdered American citizens as long as they get the medical protection they wanted.
5. The Christian conservatives and the Republican Party are taking the stand that they do not want American citizens to have any kind of healthcare the of healthcare is extended to anyone that the Christian conservatives or the Republican Party does not like. And this is based not on constitutional law or the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party being patriots. It’s based upon the Christian conservatives Republican Party demanding that the American government understand that no Christian conservative or Republican Party member will in any way ever support the US Constitution above their Christian religion and above their Christian Bible. And so as a result, their Christian Bible and Christian religion says that healthcare should not go to Hispanic Americans or black Americans or Jews or Muslims or gay Americans or Native Americans or anyone who is an immigrant that the Christian conservatives Republican Party just doesn’t happen to like.
6. And so as a result, the Christian conservatives Republican Party members are trying to commit mass murder in United States by denying health care to millions of American citizens who are in desperate need of medical attention. But the Christian conservatives Republican Party doesn’t really care about that because as far as they’re concerned if they have to walk through rivers of blood to make sure that their Christian religion and their Christian faith is supported more than the Constitution of these United States and the Christian conservatives will do just that.
7. The current level of unemployment in the United States is now over 9.7%.
8. The current cost for liquidating the national debt is now in excess of $40,000 per person, which means that every man woman and child in the United States would have to pay at least $40,000 to be able to liquidate the national debt.
9. When you look at the history of United States from the American Civil War until present day you find that the Republican Party and Christian conservatives were in total and complete control of the United States government every single time there was a financial crisis from the American Civil War to present day. And that basically means that all the policy decisions that were being made by the American government during these times when these financial catastrophes were taking place were being made strictly by Christian conservatives and the Republican Party . And of course that’s all public record.
10. As my financial analysis of the global economic system , in my see also section below, clearly shows, it was the Republican Party and the Christian conservatives under President Bush who gave the American banking industry $400 billion of taxpayer money and simply told the banking industry to use the money anyway they wanted to. And the banking industry did just that they use the money to pay for expensive gifts and presents and take vacations. To date, the banking industry has only paid back $30 billion out of the over $500 billion that was given to them by the American taxpayers.
11. The issues of profitability indexing, pursuant to profit margins and per unit costs and customer bases as they relate to compensation packages throughout the entire corporate sector have not been resolved. That basically means that most businesses are being held hostage by upper level management and executive employees in their own companies who are demanding more and more for their compensation packages. As a result of this most companies are having to readjust their per unit costs for their goods and services in such a way so that what they are doing is pricing their services and their products. So that mostly the upper class and the wealthy will be able to afford them. And this is being done so these companies and corporations can get as much money into their company as possible.
12. But they are in fact forgetting one of the major factors which is that while most of the money that any company gets comes from the wealthy are customers most of their day-to-day cash flow actually comes from the middle and lower income customers. This is true regardless of where that company exists. So as a result of this most of the companies in the corporate sector are operating on what is known as a cash poor basis. And this basically means that since they are pricing their goods and services in order to get the most money possible they are foregoing pricing their goods and services so they will be more affordable to the middle and lower income customers, which actually provide these companies with their day-to-day cash flow. And so as a result, these companies don’t have enough money to pay for employees or many of the other day-to-day costs that come up.
13. This factor has not been dealt with in any country in the world at this time. Furthermore, these companies are refusing to be honest about their financial reporting. They are constantly using and accounting,/statistical variance, which is .5%. And .5% variance is such a large variance pursuant to statistical and financial analysis that you can basically drive a moving van through the space. That is allocated for plus or minus error correction in the statistical analyses and financial analyses that are in fact done with .5% variance. This is why I have never used that level of variance statistically or financially. I’ve always used .05% variance because it is such a small variance that the statistical analysis of the profitability analysis cannot be falsified. It is true that using .05% variance does require an additional 100,000 to 200,000 calculations in order to be able to complete the analysis. But when you consider that the final product is incredibly more honest and reliable. It’s worth it.
14. The banking industry has turned cruel. For example here in Cleveland Ohio Keycorp is taking a lot of pride and threatening senior citizens and kicking them out of their homes so that they can foreclose on the property. This is happening all over Cleveland Ohio and KeyCorp actually is one of the most hated banks in the entire state of Ohio. But KeyCorp is not the only one who’s doing this practice. Because was really happening is that banks all over the United States are basically threatening senior citizens with foreclosure to the point where suicides are now escalating and accelerating at an alarming rate. So badly that the medical community is swamped by the number of suicide calls they are getting. And this is all happening because KeyCorp and other banks like KeyCorp are basically taking the attitude that they don’t care how many men and women and children they have to murder. They just want their money.
15. When you consider these kinds of factors are going on in the banking industry you realized that the other thing that’s happening is that senior citizens and homeowners are becoming incredibly sick. Do becoming physically ill as a result of the horrible attitude that KeyCorp in other banks like KeyCorp are pushing on the citizens. And there is no help for this at all.
16. Additionally, the medical community is helping with this because we have a hospital here in Cleveland Ohio called MetroHealth that basically is working hard. Just like KeyCorp to threaten senior citizens and have them thrown out of their homes. So that they can foreclose on the property. And basically kill the individuals. I have been personally threatened by KeyBank and MetroHealth and have recorded conversations proving that.
17. So MetroHealth does all these commercials where they’re talking about how good a hospital they are and yet they have been sued a number of times for Medicare fraud. They have also been sued by their own employees for unfair business practices. And they have lost doctors so badly because they don’t treat their doctors very well either. Nobody likes MetroHealth.
18. And for the record, it needs to be understood that my grandfather’s brother, Dr. ally Maschke, was the director of medicine at mount Sinai medical center here in Cleveland Ohio until his death. And my cousin, Dr. Victor Vertese, was also the director of medicine at mount Sinai medical center until his death. Additionally, my grandfather, Maurice Maschke, and his business partner, Mark Hanna, who founded the Hana mining company, which became the 3M company, basically built mount Sinai medical center in Cleveland. And in addition to that, my father, Maurice Maschke Junior, was on the Board of Trustees at Case Western Reserve University, University hospitals of Cleveland, Cleveland clinic, and mount Sinai medical center until his death. And in addition to that, my father, Maurice Maschke Junior, and I., were partners and co-owners of pioneer linen supply company of Cleveland Ohio for 25 years until 1975 when we sold the company.
19. So given all of the foregoing as actual facts. The only reason that the accelerated growth has taken place is because certain industries in the United States have in fact been making money. Only because their industries are addressing sections of the population who are otherwise disenfranchised by most of the business sector. For example Tyco International is a business that specializes and fire prevention and warning systems and security systems. And of course they’ve done a really good job because people are scared to death and living in their homes and there are so many foreclosures going on that people are having to protect their homes because in most cities the number of police has dropped so badly because most cities are in a huge budget crisis. In Cleveland, Ohio, for example, the city went from 1,500,000 people down to approximately 400,000 people in only a matter of months. And conditions are so bad in Cleveland that Cleveland is now charging nine dollars a month just pick up our garbage.
20. So given those facts Tyco International for one example is making a lot of money because people are having to protect their homes because they can’t really, the police that much because the number of police has dropped so the greatly because of the budget crisis going on throughout the world and throughout the United States.
21. Additionally, when you look at a company like Microsoft, who reported a huge profit. This is because Microsoft isn’t doing really well. Because they’re not the only reason Microsoft made this huge profit was because their previous product, Microsoft Windows Vista was actually one of the worst programs and products Microsoft ever created. And so since it did so terribly in the market naturally Microsoft’s increased now is looking fantastic, which is not because if you analyze the overall productivity and effectiveness of Microsoft you will see that they are basically floundering under Steve Ballmer’s direction.
22. So again, it’s really easy for people to talk about how well the market is doing that the foregoing represents the actual facts of what’s going on in business. And as I said before, I have been studying the stock market since I was six years old. At age 6 I started studied the stock market at Prescott ball and turban here in Cleveland Ohio. With one of the partner broker’s, Bernie Towell, who was a personal friend of mine. And so every day for four hours every day and age 6 until age 16 I studied the stock market and learned economics and financial analysis . At age 16, while working and being a partner and co-owner of pioneer linen spy company in Cleveland, I did my first financial analysis and profitability analysis . It was done on the linen supply company’s of Cleveland Ohio. The analysis was so good that the results were used to program some computers at the time. And in 42 years and having been a financial analyst I’ve never once been wrong in any financial projection I’ve ever done. Not once. Just like I’m not wrong now.
23. In my financial analysis of the global economic system in my see also section below, I clearly show that the American market system was going to lose $800 trillion of market value in the third business quarter of 2009. I further substantiated this claim last January in January of 2009. When I explained that the American market system was going to take a huge hit in the third quarter and that it would come out to about $800 trillion of market loss. And that this was in fact in line with the Kondratieff wave . And in fact that’s exactly what did happen. Which means the analysts were wrong. And I was right.
24. So again, if you go ahead and look at all these factors without looking at all of the peripheral details than you are going to be responding to the information in a very symptomatic, or symptomatically oriented manner whereby you will behave to the information in an extremely reactionary way. By the like term, if you look at all of the information regarding economics throughout the entire global economic system in a problematically oriented manner you will be looking at the financial information in a more anticipatory manner. And much more pervasive rather than in a stereotypical or linear manner. And as a result, you will begin to understand that all of these different factors that I have brought forth in this article right now. Actually do justify what I’m saying that the American market system is on the verge of collapse. And that the economic system for Greece is about to go under. And that unemployment in Spain and France and England is running at almost 30%.
25. These do not make things look like they’re going good in the United States is basically doing nothing but lying about the economic they I went to school with most of the people who run a lot of these companies in the United States and who are working on Wall Street either went to school with them at Case Western Reserve why went to school with them at Fort Lewis college board went to school with them at southern Arizona school in Tucson Arizona. Or, I did business with them throughout my life.
26. So again, this is a reality check. And all I can say is, if you don’t believe what I’m saying that’s not a problem. Because you haven’t believe me, for 40 years, what I’ve been talking about all of these issues facing the economic system in the United States and the global economic system. So why would you believe me now?
27. But the fact is that just because you may not believe what I’m saying doesn’t mean that what I’m saying is not true. Simply means you are refusing or are not able to see the veracity in what I’m saying and that’s all it means.

Dressing for the doc

So I have this nasty sinus thing going on right now. I woke up this morning feeling that they were going to explode out of my face. The kind of pain that makes fingernails on the chalkboard not seem so bad. The kind of pain that makes you want to stick a knitting needle up your nose to try to relieve the pressure – don’t try that at home. Very dangerous.

I am going to go to the walk-in clinic to see a doctor and hopefully get something to ease this sinus crud. Which means I have to actually get dressed.

I hate to leave the house looking like I just got out of bed. So I will probably fix my hair all nice, and put on make up, and make myself look presentable. Which kind of feels silly in a way. If the doctor sees that you look ok, is he really going to take you seriously when you say you feel awful? I mean, obviously if you were able to shower, get dressed and put on make-up – you can’t possibly be as sick as you make out.

But if I go out looking the way I am – little children will shake in their shoes, and cars will veer off the road in an effort to avoid the scary HSM monster.

Overworked and understaffed

Here’s an article I found that is an opinion of Dennis Kosuth.   Although I am usually not rabid in my push for improved nurse staffing, I do find myself looking around and thinking, “There has to be a better way to do this.”

I search out and find numerous articles about staffing ratios, staffing laws, etc.  I read them all.  What stands out in my mind is the fact that hospitals are a business and will continue to act just like every other business in the world.  The bottom line is God.  Hospitals, so far, have escaped the notice of the public–who still view hospitals as a haven of safety and help.  When will the public realize that patients and patient care are not that important to the hospitals except in the way they affect the bottom line?

AMONG NURSES who work in the emergency room, there’s an understandable fear that when you go to check on one of your patients, they may have stopped breathing. Because many people come in with undiagnosed conditions, it’s sometimes impossible to predict the direction they’re headed before it is too late.

In a public hospital, this concern is compounded by a waiting room bursting at the seams, where sick patients with nowhere else to turn sometimes sit for 18 hours before being seen by a doctor. While waiting for tests or a bed upstairs, patients are routinely wheeled into the hallway to make room for the next one, so the pressure building out front can be relieved.

Depending on the day, this can result in one nurse having seven or eight patients, and when their covering nurse goes on lunch, the number doubles. All this endangers the patients that nurses are responsible for–not to mention straining nurses to their physical limits.

Every day, in hospitals across the country, this ticking time bomb is wound up, and everyone crosses their fingers, hoping that nothing bad happens to themselves or their loved ones. According to an investigative feature in the San Francisco Chronicle, “[A]ll of the available research indicates that the death toll from preventable medical injuries approaches 200,000 per year in the United States.”

The profit-driven health care system has no interest in getting to the bottom of these numbers, mainly because it would involve investigating itself. It simply stands to reason that an overworked nurse with too many patients is not an accident waiting to happen, but a guarantee that accidents will happen.

ON A Friday evening in February in Chicago, almost 50 registered nurses gathered at a forum sponsored by the National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC) to discuss the need for safe nurse-to-patient ratios in the state of Illinois.

Bills (known as SB0224 and HB5033) have been introduced in each chamber of the Illinois legislature to establish a maximum number of patients per nurse, depending on the level of care. In the ER, for example, the legislation would mandate a maximum of four patients per registered nurse (RN), and this ratio would have to be maintained during breaks as well.

The Illinois bills are modeled after California, the only state to have such regulations. In 1999, Governor Gov. Davis signed the legislation, which mandated compliance by 2004. It was twelve years between the legislation first being introduced to a law going into effect.

Throughout the process, significant resistance was organized by the hospital industry, aided by their friends in state government. Even after the bill was signed into law, Davis’ successor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was particularly obstructive, helping to wage a legal battle against the new law. So the California Nurses Association (CNA) protested him wherever he went, inside the state and out.

The Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) is vehemently opposed to nurse-patient-ratio legislation. One complaint is that in California, the new law raised health care costs by more than $1 million per hospital, “with 23 percent attributable to increase in nurse wages,” the IHA claimed in a statement.

But the hospital owners don’t say is that having more nurses will actually save medical costs by reducing errors and recovery time–not to mention other insignificant questions like saving some of the 200,000 lives lost to medical error every year. The focus on profits blinds the IHA to measures that would actually improve patient care.

Another excuse for opposing the new legislation is that Illinois already has the “Nurse Staffing by Patient Acuity Act,” which took effect in January 2008 and was supported by the IHA, as well as the Illinois Nurses Association (INA), a professional organization that also represents some Illinois nurses through collective bargaining agreements.

But this existing law only requires hospitals to have a written plan for nurse-to-patient ratios, which is designed by a committee made up of at least 50 percent nurses. There is nothing about monitoring, regulation or enforcement of the wishes of bedside nurses. This is a toothless bill that leaves ratios in the hands of management.

There are currently 136,000 RNs in the state of Illinois, making for a definite nursing shortage. This leads to another IHA claim–that mandating nurse-to-patient ratios would further exacerbate the shortage.

The fact is, however, that many nurses don’t stay in the field because working conditions are so stressful.

According to one study in 2007, for example, the average voluntary turnover rate for first-year nurses was 27.1 percent. The federal government’s quadrennial survey found that only 83 percent of people with a license to work as an RN chose to do so in 2004. With the total number of RNs at 2.9 million, that means there were almost 490,000 nurses nationwide who didn’t work in the field.

Ratio laws can actually turn these trends around. In the short time since ratios went into effect in California, the state has seen an increase in the number of nurses being retained, an influx of nurses to California and a greater interest in nursing as a job. Once conditions were improved, nurses went back to work at the bedside, started moving to California from out of state, and more people have enrolled in nursing school.

THE REAL reason the hospital industry opposes the Illinois ratio proposals and similar national legislation is profit, flexibility and speedups. A recent article in Becker’s Hospital Review listing “10 Best Practices for Increasing Hospital Profitability” starts with “reducing staffing costs” through flexible scheduling and reducing benefits for full-time employees.

While health care was one industry that created jobs during the recession, this hasn’t lessened the corporations appetite to improve their bottom lines. Profits returned at large community hospitals in the first quarter of 2009, partly due to an improved stock market, but also from a decrease in hospital labor costs. Many employers were able to gain significant concessions from workers by playing on their economic fears.

For example, Mount Sinai Medical Center, a large Chicago hospital that serves the poor, has not only gotten away with wage freezes for the past couple years, but has also been on a campaign to get employees to make donations to the hospital. This is the same “not-for-profit” institution that spent significant resources to successfully fight off a unionization drive by nurses three years ago.

On the federal level, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California recently introduced legislation to institute nurse-to-patient ratios nationally. This national bill and other state legislation could produce important improvements in patient care and working conditions.

But this isn’t the only path to ratios. Union nurses at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nev., recently won contract language that mandates the same nurse-to-patient ratios as exist in California.

The introduction of these bills is a good first step, but it’s only the beginning. If the mammoth resistance to even the tepid measures promoted by Barack Obama and the Democrats in their “reform” legislation is any indication, the health care industry will stop at nothing to fight mandating ratios.

As one public health nurse said at the Chicago forum last month, “I’ve been to Springfield, written letters and called my representatives. We need to start thinking about protest actions that are just on the other side of the law if we’re going to get the change we need.”

Ratios themselves won’t solve the ongoing health care crisis in this country, but organizing around this issue can bring nurses together with patients and others to address one of the more glaring aspects of it–and force the issue of the present nursing shortage higher on the agenda.

Up or Down

Damn the torpedoes!  We want an up or down vote on health care.

Thus spake our President as he bludgeoned, er, encouraged Congress to move forward on health care.  Part of me, perhaps the not-so-noble part, hopes that happens.  There are two possible outcomes in my view.  One is that it passes and the Democratic Party is sliced, diced, and served up on crackers in the next election.  The other is that it will fail and our President will learn that democracy does not mean cramming game-altering legislation down the throats of the American people.

OK, maybe number two is wishful thinking.  Number one is likely, but I am not particularly relieved that it may come to pass.  Republicans differ from Democrats in only one respect–occasionally, you can smack a Republican on the back of the head and get some sense. This may be one of those occasions.

To wit, Rep. Paul Ryan (R) of Wisconsin has some substantive things to say about health care.  First, that the President is lying.  Ryan has noted that the plan counts on assumptions that would make even a hardened cynic blush–double-counting, rosy economic projections, and using ten years of taxes to pay for six years of spending, for starters.  Second, that there are better alternatives that take into account how to pay for it.  (For the record, I support complete privatization, not Ryans’ plan in particular.)  Instructively, we do not hear a thoughtful rebuttal from supporters.  Why?

Because there is none.  Many of my dearest friends want badly for the sick to be cared for–a laudable inclination.  I do too, which is why I oppose this legislation.  The Republicans are many things, but they are not mindless naysayers in this potential fiasco.   At least two proposals have been offered as alternatives.  The President is not interested because they do not include an unprecedented expansion of government.

Which leaves Democrats in a pickle.  They must now sidestep the filibuster, a tool designed to keep government from doing something colossally stupid without garnering a strong consensus first.  Figuring that one more push from the back of the line will get this rotund piece of insanity through the door, they plan to hold an “up or down” vote–soon.  If they succeed, my friends’ good-hearted but misdirected compassion will be answered with chaos, confusion, and disease.  Up or down indeed.

DJ Black is ill

This weeks story schedule has been set back a bit as most of them are incomplete or still in note form. It is evidentially quite hard work and being under the weather is a real barrier.

However, quickly now for all conscious thought is slipping away, whilst doing the hypochondriac thing of searching for remedies online, this was discovered.

Birching is a remedy for depression. Although not widely used since the 19th century, when it was often employed on hysterical women. It used to be thought that the pain was just a distraction and a quack remedy, but recent research in Russia suggests that it may work in the same way as electric shock therapy.

This rang a bell and a quick look in the Black files uncovered this from the 19th century memoirs of Elisabeth Gordon, whoever she might have been.

It was a most dreadful time and much of it I do not care to remember and certainly do not care to set down here. After my husband died, I had no care what became of either little Alice or myself. So much so that my sister took Alice to live with her for a time and I was dispatched to a doctor near Basingstoke.

I was diagnosed with extreme hysteria and confined to a room for 23 hours a day only allowed out once during that time to walk the garden. I think it had been hoped that with lots of rest and deprived of stimulation, I would begin to respond during my daily promenades.

After some weeks of this, I know not how long to be sure, the doctor and my charge nurse decided on another tack. They began talking to me sternly and forcing me into daily baths often with both the doctor and the maid present. Then there were the enemas, of which I will say nothing.

I chaffed a little at such humiliation and seeing a response, a new horror was introduced. Any protests and I was secured to my bed with my hips raised with pillows and soundly birched like a schoolgirl by the nurse and on occasion by the doctor himself. If I did not submit, then the maid was also present.

I cannot speak of the pain and the shame of it, but I can say that when I was able to look at the violent rash invested on my lower person it was the first such interest I had taken in myself for months. Seeing this I was treated to a daily course of the birch, whether I had protested or not. So much so that I often bled a little and the nurse cautioned the doctor to allow me days off to recover. It was then that I missed such applications, perhaps on account of there being nothing else in my life.

After some weeks, on days I was not birched I began to take an interest in the garden and after a time I even asked about Alice. The birching became less frequent after that and I was soon reunited with my daughter.

It is strange say, but even now, I sometimes miss that room, I think it was where I was reborn.

No idea where this was from, it must have been on file for years, anyone any wiser?

Bad Medicine

At work today, I noticed that someone had put up a chart with medical ‘facts’ listed on it.  Some sounded plausible, others were not so plausible.  None of them had citations or any hint as where to look for confirmation.  Here’s the link to said chart:

I needed guidance on what to do with this chart.  Since I’m a supervisor in the department, I wanted to know if I would be justified to take down the chart.  My wife is a doctor currently in a surgery residency.  I figured she’d be the one to give me the lowdown on the ‘facts’.  Maybe she could guide me to the right decision.

Please read or at least glance at the chart before reading her email response.  I didn’t count on it being so hilarious.  I figured I should share:

Tell them your wife, who spends large amounts of time elbows-deep in guts and discussing the details of people’s pooping habits, says this is largely horseshit. Post this email, or discuss it with management and tell them you don’t approve of people posting this garbage because it could possibly be detrimental to someone’s health.

*    Don’t smoke-Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

Experiments from experts say you shouldn’t fucking smoke at all because smoking is fucking bad for you regardless of when you do it.

*    Don’t eat fruits immediately – Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1 hr before meal.

Horseshit. Fruit doesn’t magically produce air in your stomach by coming in contact with other foods, and if it did, you’d burp it up. Some people get the screaming shits from eating too much fruit, but that’s due to the laxative effect that massive loads of fructose causes. And like anything with a high fiber content, fruit gets digested by gut bacteria and can lead to some tooting about 8 hours later–but that’s in your intestine, not your stomach.

Also, people who say things like this by and large don’t know what a fucking fruit is anyway (it’s anything with seeds). Try asking them if this rule means they can’t eat spaghetti with marinara sauce or ketchup with their burger and fries (tomato’s a fruit!).

* Don’t drink tea – Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

Your stomach has a pH of 1. Tea is a base compared to that. Also, protein is denatured by acid and further digested by enzymes that are only activated in the presence of acid, therefore more acid should lead to easier digestion of protein, not the other way around. Drinking green tea with my sushi does not cause me to shit out a block of undigested white tuna and octopus later on.

* Don’t loosen your belt – Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.

What the flying fuck is this? Yes, whenever I see somebody with a bowel obstruction in the ER, the first thing I ask them is “Did you loosen your belt after eating?” Because it’s not like there’s any connective tissue in the abdomen holding things in place–it’s all just squiggling around in there willy-nilly, waiting to twist up like a balloon animal the second you try to drop trou! Thank god for the medical advancement that was the invention of the belt!

* Don’t bathe – Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

Your parasympathetic nervous system is more than capable of overcoming the minor peripheral vasodilation that soaking in a warm bath causes, and will keep adequate blood flow to your intestines. You do not have enough volume capacity in your arms and legs to completely divert 5 liters of blood away from your core. Telling in this paragraph is that the author seems to think the word “stomach” can be used interchangeably with any other part of your GI tract.

* Don’t walk about – People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

Horseshit! While attempting to run a marathon after eating Thanksgiving dinner might be a less than comfortable experience, and we tend to feel like having a nap because the blood flow is diverted from muscle to intestine, there is nothing about simply walking around that has any effect whatsoever on the intestine’s ability to absorb nutrients. In fact, we force (and sometimes I do mean force) our bowel surgery patients to get off their asses and walk beginning the day of surgery, because it actually promotes restoration of bowel motility.

* Don’t sleep immediately – The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

Millions of Spaniards would disagree with you, but they’re busy taking their post-lunch siesta. The only reason not to lie down after eating is that it can lead to gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn) in people who don’t have a competent GE junction.

As for the laundry list of fruits and veggies I don’t have time to dissect them in detail. But in general, the point is that people should eat more of them because they’ve got fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins. Fiber helps you poop better, makes some modest progress on high cholesterol (statin drugs still blow it out of the water), and maybe helps people feel fuller longer so they don’t eat as many Twinkies. Antioxidants in the diet haven’t been proven to do jack shit about established cancer, Alzheimer’s, or immunological diseases, but maybe just maybe if you ate them religiously every day they could hypothetically decrease your lifetime risk of developing any of the above. Vitamins are vitamins–you need some, but not too much.

The one glaring error in that chart, though, is the claim that peanuts (or seeds or popcorn) aggravate diverticulosis/diverticulitis. This is a long-standing medical myth that has only recently been laid to rest, so I’m not shocked that this person hadn’t read the latest news in colorectal surgery. But the truth is, after meta-analysis of thousands of cases of ‘tics seen in the OR and on colonoscopy, there is no factual basis to the idea that seeds and nuts get stuck in ‘tics and piss them off. It just ain’t true.

I urge for those people who are interested in understanding the real dynamics of the healthcare debate to read my economic fact sheet below.  Because in economic fact sheet I talk very clearly about the real intention of the Republican Party and the Christian conservatives.  It’s important that people understand that when I talk about the Republican Party and the Christian conservatives are not doing so as someone who simply just got off the boat.  I am doing so as a result of coming from one of the oldest families in these United States and actually the Maschke family as I’ve said repeatedly goes all the way back to the battle of independence and my grandfather actually ran the Republican Party until his death.  Furthermore, my grandfather was actually one of the Republicans who stopped the Christian conservatives from attempting insurrection against these United States at the battle of Washington in 1932.  Regardless of what any of the news reports might say about the battle of Washington, because most of those news reports have been scrubbed or sanitized by the Republican Party and the Christian conservatives.  And unfortunately for the Christian conservatives and Republican Party.  I have a very good memory and grandfather was actually there.  They weren’t.  He was.

So under those circumstances, the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party will not lie to me about what actually happened at the battle of Washington.  Just like they’re not going to lie about their patriotism to these United States.  The fact of the matter is, the Christian conservatives every single day demonstrate outside of medical clinics.  And they do so with the intention of making sure everyone understand that the Christian conservatives are demanding that they have the right to exercise their right of free speech.  And of course that is provided under the Constitution, but what most people don’t realize is that by virtue of the fact that the Christian conservatives are in actuality exercising their right of free speech.  They are at the same time denying the right of free speech of anyone inside the medical clinics.  And they are because they don’t want people inside the medical clinics to be allowed to exercise their right of free speech to do with they are allowed to do under constitutional law.

And by virtue of the fact that the Christian conservatives are demanding that their right of free speech take precedence over the right of free speech of the people inside the medical clinics, that is in fact an act of subversion of the Constitution and an act of seditious behavior against the Constitution.  Both of those actions are in fact federal crimes under constitutional law.  Furthermore, they are extremely elucidating from the standpoint that they clearly show that the Christian conservatives under no circumstances support equal rights under the law or equal justice under the law which are in fact, aspects that are legally part of the Constitution.  And so as a result, the Christian conservatives are showing by their own actions that they don’t support the Constitution.  Because if they did they would not be demonstrating outside those clinics but instead what they would do is protect the right of the American citizens inside the clinics to have the same right of free speech that the Christian conservatives want for themselves.

But the Christian conservatives are not going to do that they will never give the right of free speech to any American in this country unless they, the Christian conservatives want that person to have treat speech.  This is of course, because the Christian conservatives support the concept of establishing an Inquisition in these United States, because the Christian conservatives, for the most part, follow the text of Mein Kampf, which in fact.  Of course was the blueprint for how Hitler murdered millions of Jews during World War II under the Nazi movement Christian conservatives fully support the kind of behavior, which is why the Utah government right now is getting set to set up death camps where they can have women routinely exterminated in the state of Utah if a woman refused to give birth and provide Utah with children.  Just like the American Baptist Congress has in its bylaws that women are defined as chattel, which means that women are defined as nothing more than livestock.  And so the American Baptist Congress encourages the ministers of the American Christian fundamentalist movement to support the killing and beating and raping and murdering of women, which all ministers in the Christian conservative movement do support they support the abuse and murder of women because as far as the Christian conservative movement is concerned.  Women are to be treated nothing but livestock.  Which means women are to be put in cages and then prodded with an electric cattle prod and forced to give birth to a child and when she’s gotten to a point where she can’t give birth anymore children she should simply be executed like you would kill a cow.

That is the type of behavior that the Christian conservatives fully support.  And of course if I’m wrong, then the statistics that are national crime statistics would also be wrong.  And we know they are not.  Because 78% United States is in fact pro-life Christian and pro-life Catholic, which means that 78% of the women in the United States who are either raped or murdered every year are being murdered and killed by pro-life Christians and pro-life Catholics.  Most of whom are Republicans.  And that’s the other side of their pro-life Inquisition that you Christian conservatives do not want anyone to know about.  Because they don’t really like woman at all and they don’t care about being pro-life their entire so-called pro-life movement is nothing more than attempt to take away free will from the right of women.

Now, quite honestly my part in all of this is very simple as a descendent of one of the oldest families in the United States, who have been family of American Jews who have always supported democracy and freedom and who always have been patriots of these United States I am no less than my father and my grandfather.  I am a patriot to these United States.  So my message to the Christian conservatives into the Utah legislature and to all the ministers of the Christian conservative movement who want to read up and kill women and who want to destroy the Constitution in order to make sure that the Christian conservatives get more rights under the Constitution than anyone else is simple.  The only way you will do that, if you kill me, because I will to my dying breath defend the Constitution.  I will defend equal rights.  Furthermore, I am requesting that the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party show me where in the Constitution that the Christian conservatives are supposed to have more equal rights than any other American citizen?  Where does it say in the Constitution that the members of United States Congress are supposed to take away civil liberties of free speech and free expression.  Based on the desires of the Christian conservatives?  Where in the Bible does it say that God came to earth and told the Christian conservatives that God and Jesus Christ had talked it over and decided that the Christian conservatives should take away the gift of free will and free speech and free choice from women.  When God gave that concept of free will and free choice to women?  Where does it say that in the Bible?  And when did the Christian conservatives actually get told by God, that they, the Christian conservatives should tell everyone in the world that no one has the right to worship God unless they do it exactly the way the Christian conservatives tell them to?  When did God tell them that I want to know the date and the time of the meeting.

And since the Christian conservatives Republican Party can answer these questions and neither can the Utah government.  I need to remind the Utah government and I need to remind the Christian conservatives and Republican Party that I as an American patriot of these United States and now defining the Utah government and the Christian conservative movement of the United States, including all the ministers and the Army of God and the Ku Klux Klan and the American Baptist Congress and the Republicans as what is legally called under constitutional law.  As domestic enemies.  And the reason I’m doing it is because if you do not in fact support the Constitution and you are an enemy of the Constitution, unless you don’t live in this country.  But if you live in these United States your oath as an American citizen is to obey the Constitution and to the Christian conservatives refuse to obey the Constitution pursuant to giving equal rights under the law to the people inside the medical clinics with the Christian conservatives are demonstrating.  That is of course an act of treason.  And that classifies the Christian conservatives as domestic enemies.  And as everyone knows the Constitution says to all of us as American citizens that we are required to protect the Constitution from all enemies domestic and foreign.

And since the legislature in Utah is taking the position that they would rather kill a woman and murder her on the street and cut her open and throw her body to the dogs than to ever allow her to have free will.  That makes the Utah government and enemy of the state meaning and enemy of the United States.  And it also makes them a domestic enemy of the Constitution.  Because they are in fact attempting to enact a law in the United States, which in fact is in conflict of the Constitution and that again is inactive seditious behavior or at least subversive behavior of the Constitution and both of those aren’t background for treason.

So again, I will defend the Constitution.  And even though people are going to laugh at me and called stupid for doing this.  I don’t care.  I’m pushing 60 years old.  I come from a very patriotic family in this country a family of Jews and the Christian conservatives can’t stand the fact that there were actually Jewish families in the United States at the battle of independence.  But there were my family was one of the and so if the Christian conservatives and the Republican Party and the Utah government think they are to have an easy time lying to the American people the wrong.  Because the only way I will allow the Christian conservatives and the Utah government and the Republican Party to destroy the Constitution of these United States and to take away the right of choice and free will, which is constitutionally protected for women and that women should have.  And that God gave to women not the Utah government or the Christian conservatives is over my dead body.  That’s how it’s going to be and I can say with absolute clarity.  I have no problem with that not one single bit.

I’m prepared to die for everything I’m writing right now.  And for those who don’t understand why am saying this please let me elucidate.  I’ve been living with terminal disability problem since I was 17 years old.  I’m pushing 60 my body is basically pieces parts at this point.  And so as far as I’m concerned.  I’m going to make peace with whatever creator there is beyond this world, in the creator is not the Christian conservative movement and the creator is not the Republican Party and the creator is certainly not the Utah government creator in my personal estimation is God.  So find that I do anything to gain favor anywhere is not been to be to gain favor with the Christian conservatives or the Utah government or the Republican Party, because none of them are going to stand over my soul and decide where my soul goes once I am dead unless they are willing to say that they are above God.  And if they are please go ahead and do that but just don’t stand near me.  When you make a kind of assertion because I’m sure that the Almighty or the creator will probably have something to say when you dare to claim you have more right here on Earth to decide the matters of the soul that God does.  Because when you do that you’ll be disavowing your own religion.

And so as a result.  I’m going to spend the last years of my life doing one thing.  Actually I’m going to be doing exactly what I’ve done for the last 40 years, which is crusading and campaigning for human rights pursuant to all the different things I have tried to do in my life.  Only now I’m going to do it with absolute irrevocable dedication, which means like I said, the only way that you Christian conservatives and the Republican Party people are going to succeed and destroy the Constitution and bringing insurrection against these United States is over my dead body and if you really want to do that.  Bring it on.

 

 

Economic Fact Sheet (Current as of Jan. 2010)

1.  The United States currently has a national debt in excess of $12 trillion.

2.  The interest on the national debt is now in excess of $11 trillion.

3.  The operating budget for the United States government is now in excess of $43 trillion.

4.  The members of the United States Congress stole $200 million from the Medicare fund, which was going to go for cost-of-living increases to Medicare recipients, so that the members of Congress could have their paper medical records converted to computerized medical records.  The attitude by the members of Congress was that they didn’t care if they murdered American citizens as long as they get the medical protection they wanted.

5.  The Christian conservatives  and the Republican Party are taking the stand that they do not want American citizens to have any kind of healthcare the of healthcare is extended to anyone that the Christian conservatives  or the Republican Party does not like.  And this is based not on constitutional law or the Christian conservatives  and the Republican Party  being patriots.  It’s based upon the Christian conservatives  Republican Party  demanding that the American government understand that no Christian conservative or Republican Party  member will in any way ever support the US Constitution  above their Christian religion and above their Christian Bible.  And so as a result, their Christian Bible and Christian religion says that healthcare should not go to Hispanic Americans or black Americans or Jews  or Muslims  or gay Americans or Native Americans or anyone who is an immigrant that the Christian conservatives Republican Party just doesn’t happen to like.

And so as a result, the Christian conservatives  Republican Party  members are trying to commit mass murder in United States by denying health care to millions of American citizens who are in desperate need of medical attention.  But the Christian conservatives Republican Party  doesn’t really care about that because as far as they’re concerned if they have to walk through rivers of blood to make sure that their Christian religion and their Christian faith is supported more than the Constitution of these United States and the Christian conservatives  will do just that.

6.  The current level of unemployment in the United States is now over 10%.

7.  The current cost for liquidating the national debt is now in excess of $39,000 per person, which means that every man woman and child in the United States would have to pay at least $39,000 to be able to liquidate the national debt.

8.  When you look at the history of United States from the American Civil War  until present day you find that the Republican Party  and Christian conservatives were in total and complete control of the United States government every single time there was a financial crisis from the American Civil War  to present day.  And that basically means that all the policy decisions that were being made by the American government during these times when these financial catastrophes were taking place were being made strictly by Christian conservatives  and the Republican Party .  And of course that’s all public record.  And if the Christian conservatives  or the Republican party say that these financial catastrophes were not their fault, That would mean that all the public statements that the Christian conservatives and the Republican party, were making during the times when all these financial disasters were taking place, to the news media and the general public were lies. On the other hand if they say that they were not lying then, that means that they are lying now. But either way you look at, the Christian conservatives and the Republican party are being found out for the liars that they have always been, and that they still are today.

9.  As my financial analysis of the global economic system , in my see also section below, clearly shows, it was the Republican Party  and the Christian conservatives  under President Bush who gave the American banking industry $400 billion of taxpayer money and simply told the banking industry to use the money anyway they wanted to.  And the banking industry did just that they use the money to pay for expensive gifts and presents and take vacations.

10.  To date, the banking industry has only paid back $30 billion out of the over $500 billion that was given to them by the American taxpayers.

11.  The issues of profitability  indexing, pursuant to profit margins and per unit costs and customer bases as they relate to compensation packages throughout the entire corporate sector have not been resolved.  That basically means that most businesses are being held hostage by upper level management and executive employees in their own companies who are demanding more and more for their compensation packages.  As a result of this most companies are having to readjust their per unit costs for their goods and services in such a way so that what they are doing is pricing their services and their products.  So that mostly the upper class and the wealthy will be able to afford them.  And this is being done so these companies and corporations can get as much money into their company as possible.

But they are in fact forgetting one of the major factors which is that while most of the money that any company gets comes from the wealthy are customers most of their day-to-day cash flow actually comes from the middle and lower income customers.  This is true regardless of where that company exists.  So as a result of this most of the companies in the corporate sector are operating on what is known as a cash poor basis.  And this basically means that since they are pricing their goods and services in order to get the most money possible they are foregoing pricing their goods and services so they will be more affordable to the middle and lower income customers, which actually provide these companies with their day-to-day cash flow.  And so as a result, these companies don’t have enough money to pay for employees or many of the other day-to-day costs that come up.

This factor has not been dealt with in any country in the world at this time.  Furthermore, these companies are refusing to be honest about their financial reporting.  They are constantly using and accounting,/statistical variance, which is .5%.  And .5% variance is such a large variance pursuant to statistical and financial analysis that you can basically drive a moving van through the space.  That is allocated for plus or minus error correction in the statistical analyses and financial analyses that are in fact done with .5% variance.  This is why I have never used that level of variance statistically or financially.  I’ve always used .05% variance because it is such a small variance that the statistical analysis of the profitability analysis  cannot be falsified.  It is true that using .05% variance does require an additional 100,000 to 200,000 calculations in order to be able to complete the analysis.  But when you consider that the final product is incredibly more honest and reliable.  It’s worth it.

12.  The banking industry has turned cruel.  For example here in Cleveland Ohio Keycorp is taking a lot of pride and threatening senior citizens and kicking them out of their homes so that they can foreclose on the property.  This is happening all over Cleveland Ohio and KeyCorp actually is one of the most hated banks in the entire state of Ohio.  But KeyCorp  is not the only one who’s doing this practice.  Because was really happening is that banks all over the United States are basically threatening senior citizens with foreclosure to the point where suicides are now escalating and accelerating at an alarming rate.  So badly that the medical community is swamped by the number of suicide calls they are getting.  And this is all happening because KeyCorp and other banks like KeyCorp  are basically taking the attitude that they don’t care how many men and women and children they have to murder.  They just want their money.

When you consider these kinds of factors are going on in the banking industry you realized that the other thing that’s happening is that senior citizens and homeowners are becoming incredibly sick.  Do becoming physically ill as a result of the horrible attitude that KeyCorp  in other banks like KeyCorp are pushing on the citizens.  And there is no help for this at all.

13.  Additionally, the medical community is helping with this because we have a hospital here in Cleveland Ohio called MetroHealth that basically is working hard.  Just like KeyCorp  to threaten senior citizens and have them thrown out of their homes.  So that they can foreclose on the property.  And basically kill the individuals.  I have been personally threatened by KeyBank and MetroHealth and have recorded conversations proving that.

So MetroHealth does all these commercials where they’re talking about how good a hospital they are and yet they have been sued a number of times for Medicare fraud.  They have also been sued by their own employees for unfair business practices.  And they have lost doctors so badly because they don’t treat their doctors very well either.  Nobody likes MetroHealth.

And for the record, it needs to be understood that my grandfather’s brother, Dr. ally Maschke, was the director of medicine at mount Sinai medical center here in Cleveland Ohio until his death.  And my cousin, Dr. Victor Vertese, was also the director of medicine at mount Sinai medical center until his death.  Additionally, my grandfather, Maurice Maschke, and his business partner, Mark Hanna, who founded the Hana mining company, which became the 3M company, basically built mount Sinai medical center in Cleveland.  And in addition to that, my father, Maurice Maschke Junior, was on the Board of Trustees at Case Western Reserve University, University hospitals of Cleveland, Cleveland clinic, and mount Sinai medical center until his death.  And in addition to that, my father, Maurice Maschke Junior, and I., were partners and co-owners of pioneer linen supply company of Cleveland Ohio for 25 years until 1975 when we sold the company.

14.  So given all of the foregoing as actual facts.  The only reason that the accelerated growth has taken place is because certain industries in the United States have in fact been making money.  Only because their industries are addressing sections of the population who are otherwise disenfranchised by most of the business sector.  For example Tyco International is a business that specializes and fire prevention and warning systems and security systems.  And of course they’ve done a really good job because people are scared to death and living in their homes and there are so many foreclosures going on that people are having to protect their homes because in most cities the number of police has dropped so badly because most cities are in a huge budget crisis.  In Cleveland, Ohio, for example, the city went from 1,500,000 people down to approximately 400,000 people in only a matter of months.  And conditions are so bad in Cleveland that Cleveland is now charging nine dollars a month just pick up our garbage.

15.  Furthermore, as I predicted on May 21, 2009, the American market system had already lost approximately $500 trillion of market value. And, in my journal entry (see my LiveJournal entry of May 21 2009). Then on May 22, 2009, I accurately predicted that the American market system would lose approximately $800 trillion of market value. (see LiveJournal entries of May 22, 2009, entry #1, entry #2,  and entry #3, ). And the market did lose that much money. So, I was right. As I have always said. In 42 years of being a financial analyst, I have never been wrong on any financial projection I have ever done. Just like I was not wrong in 2009, with the above projections, I am, by the like term, not wrong now.

So again, it’s really easy for people to talk about how well the market is doing that the foregoing represents the actual facts of what’s going on in business.

And as I said before, I have been studying the stock market since I was six years old.  At age 6 I started studied the stock market at Prescott ball and turban here in Cleveland Ohio.  With one of the partner broker’s, Bernie Towell, who was a personal friend of mine.  And so every day for four hours every day and age 6 until age 16 I studied the stock market and learned economics and financial analysis .  At age 16, while working and being a partner and co-owner of pioneer linen spy company in Cleveland, I did my first financial analysis  and profitability analysis .  It was done on the linen supply company’s of Cleveland Ohio.  The analysis was so good that the results were used to program some computers at the time.  And in 42 years and having been a financial analyst I’ve never once been wrong in any financial projection I’ve ever done.  Not once.  Just like I’m not wrong now.

In my financial analysis of the global economic system  in my see also section below, I clearly show that the American market system was going to lose $800 trillion of market value in the third business quarter of 2009.  I further substantiated this claim last January in January of 2009.  When I explained that the American market system was going to take a huge hit in the third quarter and that it would come out to about $800 trillion of market loss.  And that this was in fact in line with the Kondratieff wave .  And in fact that’s exactly what did happen.  Which means the analysts were wrong.  And I was right.

Now, it’s important to remember that anyone can say anything about the market that they want. But being able to back up what they say takes an expert. And someone who understands the science of financial analysis. And that’s something I have been doing for 42 years.

Therefore, if you go ahead and look at all these factors without looking at all of the peripheral details than you are going to be responding to the information in a very symptomatic, or symptomatically oriented manner whereby you will behave to the information in an extremely reactionary way.  By the like term, if you look at all of the information regarding economics throughout the entire global economic system in a problematically oriented manner you will be looking at the financial information in a more anticipatory manner.  And much more pervasive rather than in a stereotypical or linear manner.  And as a result, you will begin to understand that all of these different factors that I have brought forth in this article right now.  Actually do justify what I’m saying that the American market system is on the verge of collapse.  And that the economic system for Greece is about to go under.  And that unemployment in Spain and France and England is running at almost 30%.

These do not make things look like they’re going good in the United States is basically doing nothing but lying about the economic they I went to school with most of the people who run a lot of these companies in the United States and who are working on Wall Street either went to school with them at Case Western Reserve why went to school with them at Fort Lewis college board went to school with them at southern Arizona school in Tucson Arizona.  Or, I did business with them throughout my life.

So again, this is a reality check.  And all I can say is, if you don’t believe what I’m saying that’s not a problem.  Because you haven’t believe me, for 40 years, what I’ve been talking about all of these issues facing the economic system in the United States and the global economic system.  So why would you believe me now?

But the fact is that just because you may not believe what I’m saying doesn’t mean that what I’m saying is not true.  Simply means you are refusing or are not able to see the veracity in what I’m saying and that’s all it means.

 

 

 

Annotations Regarding Non-Pro-Life Activities Of The Republican Party And The Christian Conservatives And The Catholics Of The United States:

The Christian conservatives and the Catholics  don’t ever want to be responsible for the fact that since 78% of the United States is pro-life Christian that basically means that 78% of all the women and children murdered in the United States are killed by pro-life Christians and Catholics.  It also means that Christians in United States are demanding that the world understand that to them being pro-life means killing, because while the Christian conservatives and Catholics  are demanding that everyone understand they are pro-life.  They are with their own actions, supporting a number of forms of killing.

• 78% of all the women murdered in the United States are killed by pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the children abused in the United States are abused by pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the children murdered in the United States are murdered by pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the murders that take place in the United States are committed by pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the soldiers in the United States, who go out and kill are pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of the membership of the National Rifle Association (The NRA ), which support GUNS THAT KILL are pro-life  Christians and Catholics.
• Every single white supremacist group in the history of United States has always been white fundamentalist pro-life  Christian.  And these white supremacist groups are dedicated to killing anyone who is not white and Christian.
• The Army of God is a white fundamentalist Christian group who is dedicated to murdering and killing every single nonwhite Christian in the United States.
• 78% of all the people who favor and support the death penalty meaning killing people for committing crimes are pro-life  Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the ministers in the United States who carry firearms to church and are threatening to kill anyone who comes near the church was not white and Christian are pro-life Christians and Catholics.
• 78% of all the crimes against gay people in the United States are done by pro-life Christians and Catholics.

The Christian Black Codes Of 1724:

Article 1

We want and understand that the law of the late King of glorious memory our lord and father, of the April 23rd 1615, be executed in our islands. We order to all our officers to chase out of our islands all the Jews who have established their home, to who, like to declared enemies of the Christian name, we order to get out within three months, from the day of publication of the law, on pain of confiscation of body and possessions.

Article 2

All the slaves who will be in our islands will be baptized and educated in the catholic, apostolic and roman church. Order the inhabitants who buy Negroes newly arrived to inform the governor and quartermaster of the islands within eight days the latest, on pain of arbitrary fines; that will give order to baptize and educate them in adequate time.

Article 3

We forbid public exercise of other religion than the catholic, apostolic and roman one; want that the contravening persons be punished as rebels and disobeying persons to our commandments. Forbid any assembly for this reason, we declare those one as illicit and seditious subject to the same pain, which will be the same even for the masters who let this done by his slaves.

Article 4

There will no commander to direct the Negroes, who is no of the catholic, apostolic and roman religion, on pain on confiscation of those Negroes against this masters who put a such commander and arbitrary punishment against the commanders who accept this job.

Article 5

We forbid our subjects of the so-called reformed religion to cause trouble either impediment to our other subjects, even to their slaves in the free exercise of the catholic, apostolic and roman religion, on pain of exemplar punishment.

Article 6

We enjoin, all our subjects, whatever function and condition they are, to observe the Sundays and holidays; which are kept to our subjects of catholic, apostolic and roman religion. Forbid them to work either to make their slaves work the appointed days, since midnight to other midnight, to culture the land, making sugars and any other work, on pain of arbitrary fine and punishment against the masters, and of confiscation of the sugars as well as the slaves that our officers will see working. [NB: all pretexts are good, to deprive the slaves of weekly rest and holidays.]

Article 7

We forbid them to hold Negroes market and any kind of goods the appointed days too, on same pain of confiscation of the goods on the market, and arbitrary fine against the merchants.

Article 8

Declare our subjects who are not of the catholic, apostolic and roman religion incapable to contact in the future any valid marriage. Declare bastards the children who will birth from these conjunctions, that we want to be held and reputed, we hold and repute for real cohabitation.

Article 9

Free men who had one or several children in their cohabitation, with their slaves, the master and him will be condemned to a fine of two thousand pounds of sugar. And if they are the slave masters with who they had the so-called children, we want that further the fine, they will be deprive of the slave and the children, and she and them be confiscated to profit of the hospital, without any possibility to be emancipated. Article 10

The so-called solemnity prescribed by the edict of Blois and the declaration of the month of November 1639, for the marriages, will be observes as for free persons as slaves, with nevertheless that the consent of the slave’s father and mother be necessary, but only the master’s. [NB: the slaves who would be constrained to marry by their master have no legal mean to refuse.]

Article 11

Forbid very expressly the priest to proceed to slaves’ marriages, if they don’t have their masters’ consent. Forbid to the masters to use no compel on their slaves for marry them against their will.

Article 12

The children who will birth from marriages between slaves will be slaves and will belong to the masters of the slaves women and not to their husband’s one, if the husband and the wife have different masters.

Article 13

Want if the husband has married a free woman, the children as males as females follow their mother’s condition and be free like her in spite of their father’s servitude; and if the father is free and the mother slave, the children be slave too.

Article 14

The masters are required to bury in holy land in a cemeteries intended to this aim their baptized slaves; and for those who will die without receive baptism, they will be buried by night in some field close to where they’ll deceased. [NB: the black men “holy land” is quite different to the whites “holy land”.]

Article 15

Forbid to slaves to carry offensive weapon, either big sticks, on pain of whip and confiscation of the weapons to the benefit of who will seize them; except only those who have been sent hunting by their masters, and will have their notes or know marks.

Article 16

Forbid also to slaves belonging to different masters to form a crowd by day or night on the pretext of wedding party or otherwise, either at one of their masters or elsewhere, and more less in big paths or place away, on pain of corporal punishment, which will not be less than whip and lily flower; in case of frequent repeat offense and others aggravate circumstances, will be able be punished of death, what we let to the judges arbitration. Enjoin our subjects to hunt for the contravening, and arrest them and lead them in jail, although they are not officers and there is no decree against them.

Article 17

The masters will be convinced to have let or tolerated such assemblies composed by slaved who don’t belong to them, will be condemned in their own and private names to repair any damage which will be done to their neighbors during these assemblies, in ten ecus fine for first time and twice for subsequent offense.

Article 18

Article 21

Permit to all our subjects inhabitants of our islands to seize all the things they’ll find the slaves in charge when don’t have notes of their masters, either known marks, to be delivered very shortly to their masters, if the plantations are close of where the slaves will be surprised at committing offense; or else the things will be very shortly sent to the hospital to held in trust till the masters are informed.

Article 22

Article 23

Forbid them to give to the slaves sugar cane brandy for the provisions mentioned in previous article.

Article 24

Forbid them also to release themselves of the food and subsistence of their slaves, by letting them work some days of the week “to be self-employed”

Article 25

The masters will be obliged to supply each slaves every years two clothes or four alders of cloth, as so-called masters like. [NB: in fact, the masters don’t care of clothing them.]

Article 26

The slaves who won’t be fed, clothed and maintained by their masters in accordance with what we have order by the presents rules will be able to give the opinions to general attorney and the memories in his hands, on what and automatically, if the opinions come to him from other persons, the masters will be prosecuted by his petition and without pay anything, what we want to be observed as the masters’ crimes and barbarian and inhuman treatments toward their slaves. [NB: the articles 30 and 31 quash purely and simply the good intentions of the article 26.]

Article 27

The infirm slaves by age, illness otherwise, either the illness is incurable or non, will be supported and will maintain by their master; and incase they would have neglected themselves them, the so-called slaves will be assigned to the hospital; the masters will condemned to pay six sols by day by days for the food and the maintain of each slave. [NB: the current practice is pure and simple desertion]

Article 28

Let us declare that the slaves can not have anything which is not belong to their master, and all come them by industry or liberality of other persons or otherwise whatever the way, is acquired in full property to their master, without the slaves’ children, their father or mother, their parents and any free or slave others can lay claim nothing by inheritance, provision of a will between living people or because of death. We declare the such provisions are useless, both all the promises or obligations which would be made, as being made by people legally incompetent to incline and to contract by their own.

Article 29

Let us want nevertheless that the masters are responsible of what their slaves will make by their commandment, and together for what they’ll will have managed and negotiated in the shops, and the particular kind of trade of which their masters will appoint them; and the case the masters didn’t give any order and didn’t appoint them, they will be responsible only for what will profit to them; and if nothing profit to the masters, the earning of this so-called slaves that their masters permitted them to have will be seized, after the masters will have deduced what will be owed to them; except if the earning is, all or a part of goods which the slaves have been permitted to trade for their own, on what their masters will take only by contribution of a sol for a pound with the other creditors.

Article 30

The slaves won’t have office neither commission with public functions, neither be constituted agents by others than their masters for manage neither administrate any shop, neither be arbitrators, experts or witnesses in civil and criminal matter. And in case they are listen as witness, their deposition will serve only for memories to help the judges to find out, but those depositions won’t be able to be used to have presumptions, neither circumstances, neither evidences.

Article 31

The slaves won’t be able to be litigant neither is in judgment in civil matter, in plaintiff or in defendant; neither be private party in criminal matter, except their masters to act and to proceed, and to prosecute for compensations for insults and excess their slaves have been subjected.

Article 32

The slaves will be prosecuted without the need the master get responsible but only in the case of complicity; and so-called slaves will be judged in first pending by ordinary judges and on appeal by the supreme council on the same pre-trial investigation of the case, with the same procedures than free persons.

Article 33

The slave, who hit his master, his mistress or his mistress husband or their children with contusion or bloodshed, or at the face, will be punished by death.

Article 34

And as for the immoderate language or assault which will be committed by slaves against free people, we want that it’s be severely punished, even by death if it’s necessary.

Article 35

The daylight robberies, even the horses, the mares, the mules, the oxen and the cows one which will be made by slaves, or by emancipated persons, will be punished by corporal pains, even by death if necessary.

Article 36

The robberies of sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, sugar canes, peas, millet, manioc, or others vegetables made by the slaves will be punished regarding the degree of robbery, by the judges, if they’ll be able if it’s necessary condemn them to be beaten by birch by the enforcer of the great justice, and marked by lily flower.

Article 37

The masters will be obliged, in case of robbery or other damage caused by their slaves, besides the slaves corporal pains, to right the wrong in their name, if they don’t prefer to abandon the slaves to the one who the wrong has been made; what they have to choose in three days, starting from the day of the sentence, otherwise they will be waned.

Article 38

The runaway slave who has been on the run during one month starting from the day his master will denounce him to justice, will have the ears cut off and will be marked by lily flower on a shoulder; if he re offends one more time starting from as well as the day of his of the denunciation, will have the ham cut off and will be marked by lily flower on the other shoulder; and the third time he will be punished by death.

Article 39

Emancipated people who will harbor in their house runaway slaves will be condemned for each one toward their masters in fine of three hundred pounds of sugar by retention day; and the other free people who help them in the same way, in ten pounds of fine for each day.

Article 40

The masters will have the right, when they’ll estimate it’s necessary, to chain up the slaves and make beat them by sticks and ropes; defend them to torture them, neither make them member mutilations, on pain of confiscation of the slaves and very extraordinarily the masters will be prosecuted. [NB. The reality is that settlers bully, wound, torture, and kill.]

Article 43

We demand to our officers to prosecute the masters and the commanders who will kill a slave under their power and leadership, and punish the murder regarding the atrocity of the circumstances; and in case the forgiveness it’s necessary, permit our officers to sent back the forgiven masters and commanders, without it’s needing letter of mercy from us.

Article 44

We declare the slaves be movable, and as such enter the community, can not be seize by mortgage, can be shared equally between co-heirs without possibility for one of them to take a part before the sharing neither birthright, neither to be reserved to their wife before death by the husband, and be subject of feudal or descendants retract, feudal and seigniorial rights, to the formalities of the decrees.

Article 45

We don’t want to deprive our subjects of the faculty to stipulate them proper to their persons and to their own folks by their side and lineage, as it’s the use for money and other movables things.

Article 46

In slaves seizures will be fulfilled prescribed formalities by our orders and customs for seizure of movable things. We want that the money which coming from to be distributed by order of the seizures, or, in case of ruin, a sol for a pound, after the privileged debts will have been paid, and generally that the slaves condition to be well-ordered in all matter, as the one of the others movables things, except these cases.

Article 47

Do not let them be seized and sold separately the husband and the wife with their under age of puberty children, if they are all under the power of the same master; we declare null seizures and separate sale which will be done of them, what we want to take place in voluntary alienations, on punishment against those who would do alienations to be deprived of the one or those they will have kept, who will be awarded to the acquirers, without they would pass to do any supplement of value. [In the practice the master can sell children separately of his parents and to bargain for separately the spouses.]

Article 48

Do not let them can therefore slaves working now in the sugar-refinery, indigo houses and plantations, age of fourteen years and overhead until sixty years, be seized for debts, otherwise as to will arise of the value of their purchase, or that the sugar-refinery or the indigo house or the plantation where they work would been seized really, we defend, hardly of nullity, to proceed by real seizure and adjudication by decree on the sugar-refineries and indigo houses neither plantations, without comprising in it the slaves of the aforesaid age and there working now.

Article 49

The judicial farmers of sugar houses, indigo houses or plantations really seized with slaves will have to pay the entire price of their lease: without the possibility to count as the fruits they perceive the slave children born during their lease.

Article 50

We want, nevertheless all contrary conventions that we declare null, that the so-called children belong to the seized part, if the creditors are satisfied or to the adjudicator if it intervenes a decree; and for that purpose mention, will be done in the last forepart notice before the interposition of the decree, the so-called children born the slaves since the real seizure; that in same notice mention will be done the deceased slaves since the real seizure in which they were counted.

Article 51

We want to avoid expenses and procedure lengths, that the giving away of entire value of the conjoined fund adjudication and slaves and what will proceed from the value of judicial leases, be done between creditors according to the order of their privileges and mortgages, without distinguishing what is for the fund value of what is for the slaves value.

Article 52

And nevertheless the feudal and seigniorial rights will be paid only in proportion to the funds price.

Article 53

It will be only admit to retire the ordered funds, the persons of noble lineage and feudal lords who retire the slaves who have been sold with these funds, neither the purchasers won’t be able to keep the slaves without the funds.

Article 54

We enjoin to noble guardians and burgesses, persons who rent usufruct and others enjoying of the funds to which are joined who work, to steer the appointed slaves as good paterfamilias without they would pass after their administration to give back the value of those who will be deceased or full-fashioned by illness, age or otherwise without their lack, and without they draw as to hold back as fruits to their profits born of slaves children lasting their administration; who we want be preserved and return to those who will be his masters and proprietors.

Article 55

The masters of twenty years old will be able to free their slaves by all actions between living persons or because of death, without they would to pass to give reasons of their emancipation, neither that they would need of opinion of their parents, though they would be minor of twenty five years. [Measures will come hereafter to penalize hardly the emancipation]

Article 56

Slaves who will have been done residuary legatees by their masters, or named executors of their testaments, or guardians of their children, will pass and will consider as free men. [It didn’t ever has been any black guardian neither of mulatto of the whites, and of course, there hasn’t been a black executor or half-breed of the white deceased masters.

Article 57

We declare their emancipation made in our island serve as them as place of birth in our island, and the emancipated slaves don’t need our letters of naturalization to enjoy our natural subjects advantages in our kingdom, lands and countries of our obedience, even they born in foreign countries.

Article 58

We command the emancipated persons to respect singularly their ancient masters, their widows and their children; or else the insult they will have made to them be punished more severely than if it has been somebody else. We declare them franc and quit toward them of all other charges, services and useful rights that their ancient masters would like too pretend, both on the persons and properties and succession in quality of bosses.

Article 59

We grant to the emancipated persons the same rights, privileges and immunity, which enjoy the persons born as free, we want that merit of an acquired freedom produce in them, also as for their persons than for their goods, the same effects as the happiness of the natural freedom causes to our other subjects. [NB: a lot of restrictions will be added: no access to nobility, no access to the “whites class”, no possibility to have a practice in magistrate and in the militia, no job which can make them meet, even far from, the juridical or judicial functions, etc.]

Article 60

We declare the seizures and fines, which have not particular destination by these present articles, belong to us, to be paid to those who are appointed to the collect of our incomes. We want nevertheless that the third of these so-called confiscation and fine be given to the hospital established in the island where they have been made. We ask the persons who hold our sovereign council established in Martinique, Guadeloupe, saint-Christopher, that they have to make read, publish and register these present articles, and keep and observe point by point in accordance with the form and the term of the content in them, without to agree on neither permit they are contravened in any way, in spite of all edicts, declarations and customs, we have departed and depart from by these present articles. Because it’s our good pleasure; in order to be firm and stable matter forever, we have made append our seal. When you have all these forms of killing being supported by pro-life Christians and Catholics it’s easy to understand that the pro-life Christians and Catholics are demanding that everyone else be responsible for their own actions.  But the white fundamentalist Christians and Catholics under no circumstances want to be responsible for anything they do because they are demanding that the entire world understand that to them being pro-life means killing, because that’s what they support killing. That’s why that those who claim to be pro-life are now becoming known as nothing more than, “Killers For Christ”.
